More on set of "The Caller" with Stephen Moyer, Rachelle and Luillo Ruiz
Okay, where to start... let me get the *fan girl* out of me... OMG! OMG! OMG! Today I had another adventure on the set of "The Caller". For this adventure I had to get up pretty early to get there, it was not that hard to find if you know what to look for... I got there and they were rehearsing a scene that was to be shot and finished today on the San Juan area. Filming location was outside and scene included Luis Guzman, Rachelle Lefevre and Stephen Moyer. I was real close this time to the action and saw every rehearsed take and shoot. In between takes, they had their make-up retouched and carried little hand-held fans to keep cool (it was hot this morning). At the end of scene, it was a wrap from Stephen Moyer and everyone on set applauded his work and had a photo shoot before he left. Later, Rachelle and Stephen exchanged phone numbers and talked for some time, before going to lunch break. Sadly but true, Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin are leaving Puerto Rico (I hope they had an amazing time here!). Here are some photos of the cast:
In this photo you can see Luis Guzman on right
Afterward I had the opportunity to talk to Luillo Ruiz, the Producer of the movie. You might know Luillo, because he has produced various work on the Island, like "Maldeamores" (with his brother Carlos Ruiz) and other educational/commercial films. Luillo is always accompanied by his wife and both are very nice and gracious persons. "The Caller", an Independent Film, is a co-production of the following companies: Pimienta (Puerto Rico), Salt (England) and Alcove Entertainment. How Luillo got into the mix: Salt sends Pimienta the core screen scripts (written by Sergio Casci) and they decide on going on with the project or not; in this case they did (and we are really glad!). From this point on Pimienta in charge of casting, locations, funding, and producing. The Director from "The Caller", Matthew Parkhill adapted the movie stories to fit into the Puertorican culture, life-style and rhythm. "The Caller" is composed of various urban legends and real stories of Puerto Rico once adapted, but the main story stays as Casci wrote it. Luillo's producing style is to promote Puerto Rico as one of the leading places in cinematography, because "we are equipped and have the quality to produce excellent films, we are hoping this mode of producing will set the basis of future cinematography in Puerto Rico". I also asked him, if he ever thought of any other location for filming, but rapidly Luillo said "No, Puerto Rico is my homeland so I will promote it in any way possible", but nevertheless if it was to be filmed elsewhere he would had complied. Luillo is also very pleased to have the chance to work with Matthew Parkhill, he said "he is one of my favorites Directors to work with, being the other his brother, Carlitos". Thanks Luillo and cast/crew for your time!!! We really appreciate it!!
Cast notes:
Stephen Moyer and Rachelle Lefevre have good chemistry on set
Brittany Murphy was originally casted for "Mary Kee" instead of Rachelle
Ed Quinn plays "Stephen", "Mary Kee's" husband
Lorna Raver also appears on the film and so does Luis Guzman, who Luillo has previously worked with
Gladys Rodriguez will play "John Guidi's" mother (Stephen's role)
Also from Puerto Rico, Cordelia Gonzalez (who plays Judge), Alfredo Quesada, Grace Connelly and Aris Mejias. Puertorican extras were also casted.
We are very glad for the union of Casci, Parkhill and Ruiz, the movie from what I have witnessed will be an excellent film and can't wait to see it. It is said to be released on 2010.

Shooting of the film is not over, just the parts where Stephen Moyer appears (so it was a wrap for him on Sunday, Nov.29) The film will finish shooting by December 23 and everything is shot in Puerto Rico
